The Plantronics CS55 Micro

Friday, March 7th, 2008

I’ve been getting tons of email asking me what’s my favorite headset for use in the office. That’s a tough one, but I can tell you the one I do use most often. The Plantronics CS55 Micro sits on my desk right next to my phone, and I love it. Here’s why:

  • It’s freaking tiny!
  • When I’m wearing it there’s no telescoping mic in front of my mouth or pressing up against my cheek.
  • With my long, fabio hair it stays hidden
  • It has a 10 hour battery life
  • Super dependableCS55 Micro

Now there are a few things that I know are problems with this guy, since it’s so small and has no telescoping mic, it has no noise-canceling. But who cares? I don’t. I like my headsets tiny and unobtrusive and not sitting in my ear. Because it is so small it also gives my voice a “tinny” sound on the other end, again, not a big deal to me. People hear me clearly, I hear them clearly, and the headset is very “micro.” I could be using something a little more fancy like the BW900 or the CS70N, but my heart stays with the Plantronics CS55 Micro. I believe there’s only one place to get this puppy as well, over at Headsets.com.

Plantronics .Audio 770 Review

770 is big

I was really excited to check out the new .Audio 770 from Plantronics. I personally think bigger is better when it comes to personal use headsets, and the 770 does not disappoint. Although it looks quite lare, and is, it also feels very light on the head. This might be due to the pully-like-system it has built into it, but whatever man, they are light. I could see myself wearing the .Audio 770 all day long. Also, the fact that they are open ear headsets, meaning you get better sound…cuz it’s open.

It has an inline volume control, and comes with that “USB soundcard” that Plantronics throws in. I thought I’d have no use for this, but it is actually quite useful, say if you’re sound card dies which mine did the other day.

The only thing I don’t like about this headset is how you look like an alien wearing it, but eh, I can handle that.
